My Journey with the Swine Flu

Swine Flu Symptoms

According to the CDC, like seasonal flu, symptoms of swine flu infections can include:

* fever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent
* cough
* runny nose or stuffy nose
* sore throat
* body aches
* headache
* chills
* fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme
* diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu



One of the things to keep in mind is that the season for seasonal flu is generally November through March with most of the cases being seen in December and January. Most of the time, in the summer, sore throats and coughing, sneezing, runny noses or sinus issues are due to allergy not the flu.

I flew from Kansas City to Seattle Washington June 5th and stayed there until the 11th when I returned to Kansas City. I went to visit my son and daughter-in-law and assist them with their new 8 week premature baby. We went to the hospital nearly every day during that time passing many people in the halls. We went to restaurants and parks, church and other public places while there. I looked up the incidence of swine flu in Washington State and saw that it is listed as regional meaning that in some regions of the state there has been noted incidences of the H1N1 virus commonly called Swine Flu.

My son and his family became sick on the 12th. They were very sick for about 7 days and it was determined by her doctor that they had the swine flu. I got sick on Monday about three days later. I had some very strange symptoms. I had a headache and fever and extremely exhaustion. I just felt like not only could I not wake up but I couldn’t even get up. I had no other symptoms. This lasted about 7 days. I finally decided that I must be sick so I took 25 drops Young Living Oregano oil in a capsule about day 5 of this tiredness. Usually that kills any virus for me that I might have. I felt better the next morning so I took another capful in the morning and another at night. I felt much better on that day and was able to start functioning better. I also diffused clove oil through out the day. It was as if I craved it like mad. I would put my face in front of the diffuser and whiff it in. I would just feel better all around whenever I did that.

I looked up the symptoms of the H1N1 virus. It said that you don’t have to have all the symptoms listed above, that you could have a mild case of the flu. I did have a fever and extreme, boarding on profound, exhaustion. I wondered if I had the Swine Flu since my son and daughter and daughter-in-law were sick with it. I noticed that the incubation period after having contacted the flu was 10 days. That would have meant that I contacted it either on the flight to Seattle or at the hospital the next day when I went to see my grandson.

I decided to start back to my walking program when I felt better. I wasn’t walking a long distance perhaps no more then a mile a day, but I noticed after two days of walking that my exhaustion was increasing as were the aches and pains in my joints and legs. I watched a video that Dr. Mercola had on his site about adrenal insufficiency and exercise. He said that if you have low adrenals it can cause a rise in cortisol levels that actually could be worse for you if you exercise then the exercise. So I decided that it was perhaps what was causing the aches and pains and tiredness and decided to stop the exercise program until I had strengthened my adrenal glands with B vitamins, Essential Fatty Acids and Trace Minerals.

Two days later while sitting on the coach watching a pretty bland movie with my children my heart suddenly started racing and a sharp pain went through it. It wasn’t like the last heart attack I had where I had crushing chest pain and a sharp pain going down my left arm. It was just as if my heart was going floppity flop in my chest though I also had a numb feeling in my left arm. I immediately got up and took a tsp of cayenne pepper with water in case it was a heart attack. I felt fine afterwards, but the next day was more exhausted then ever as well as having a dull ache in my left chest surrounding my heart. I decided that whatever had happened had left the pericardium in my heart swollen so I started taking 5 Cardia Care tablets and three dropperfuls of HRT twice a day. I used cypress, Idaho Balsam fir, RutaVala and Aroma Siez on my chest to bring down the ache and pains that were there on the left side of my chest. Not only did my chest hurt but behind the shoulder blade there were very sharp pains.

The day before the heart episode, my children started coming down with sore throats, headaches and fevers. I had them use Thieves oil and also drink NingXia Red throughout the day. I had several children down being sick at this time. This was about the 7th of July. My daughter Emily was the first to get sick. She works as a Receptionist at Best Western in Chillicothe and see many travelers during the course of each day. It was about three weeks since I first got sick.

My children were so sick that I had to take care of them as well make dinners (fortunately no one felt like eating much) and do dishes while having problems with my heart not quite feeling well. I was having difficulty breathing and talking. I knew I wasn’t getting enough oxygen. I fed them chicken soup mixed with fresh oregano, sage and basil leaves, lots of onions and garlic. That seemed to turn the tide for them.

After about 7 days my children began to get well. It is now three weeks since they first came down with the flu. They are still coughing and have morning sore throats. They don’t seem to have a lot of energy and would rather just lie around still.

In the afternoon of the 20th I began to feel ill. I ached all over and noticed that I was running another fever. I had the beginnings of a sore throat. I took Thieves oil and tilted my head back and threw the oil down my throat. I filled a capsule full of oregano oil and took it and went to bed to sleep. The next day my throat was so sore I couldn’t talk. I continued dosing the throat with Thieves and using oregano oil. I remembered how I enjoyed the clove oil the last time so I started to diffuse it again. My sinuses hurt. I didn’t have a funny nose but I had pain in my sinuses and in my chest. I was out of RC so I took Deep Relief and Melrose and put it on my forehead and under my cheeks. My teeth ached and hurt beyond belief. I put clove oil over all my gums to numb them from the pain. My head throbbed. My lymph glands were so swollen in my neck that my neck was as big around as my head. My ankles were incredibly swollen. My bones ached like they would break. My veins and arteries became constricted and hurt. My joints were swollen and hurt. I was nauseous. I had deep fatigue and even though I had a temperature of about 101 I couldn’t sleep. I started taking NingXia Red by the shot glass full every hour. I steamed my sinuses with onions, garlic, parsley, oregano and peppermint. That also helped break up the pain in my chest and loosened my cough though I didn’t really have a lot of mucus in my chest. I soaked in Espsom salts, lavender and clove for pain and to relax the body and to get the toxins out of the lymph glands. I was drinking ledum and grapefruit oils to also bring down the lymph glands. I was also rubbing those oils all over my swollen glands as well as rubbing clove all over my swollen joints and on my legs and arms to relieve pain. By Tuesday night I was a mess. My blood pressure was up to 185/110. I felt like my head was going to explode. I used Idaho Balsam Fir and RutaVala and orange and clove to bring it down. When it came down I started to seizure and I had seizures for two hours before I finally fell asleep around 4 am.

My blood pressure stayed down but my glands were so huge that they really hurt on Wednesday. I decided that I was going to use Dr. Samuel Thompson’s method of natural healing. He was an herbal healer in the 1800’s. His philosophy is to get it out of the body whether by steam, sweat or by enema. So I did three enema bags full of water letting it enter then holding as long as I could then expelling. I did this for two straight days. The first bag I used 15 drops of peppermint and grapefruit. My intent was to relax the body and pull toxins from the lymph. The second bag I used 15 drops of oregano. My intent was to give myself a strong antibiotic in my blood. The third bag I used 15 drops of Conyza oil only because I felt like it no other reason. I did this for two days. My glands finally started to drain. (Though it is now 9 days later and they are still mildly sore and swollen.) The aches and pains started to leave my body. By now I didn’t have a sore throat and my blood pressure was done. I had extreme exhaustion. I decide I could finally eat so I made more chicken soup as above though this time I had my son gather some mullein leaves from the roadside and I added those. I knew by Thursday that I had rounded the corner. I continued to just be good to myself after that. I read where you can think you are done with the flu and it will come back with a vengeance. I didn’t want to get it again. I am still very tired and ache all over. I still, 9 days later, feel like I have been run over by a road roller. I still have a cough and a slight sore throat and a mild headache. I still can only sit for about an hour at a time before I have to lie down. I would say that this was unlike any flu I have ever had. It was worse then when I had the mumps. I felt at one point that every cell of my body had been poisoned.

What did I learn to assist others? I learned if you have a weakness that this flu will exploit it. The CDC does say that if you have congestive heart failure (which I do) it can make it worse and maybe even cause more damage. I learned that it really zaps the adrenal glands. I wonder what it would have been like if I had not just recently finished doing a colon and liver cleanse! How much worse would it have been?

So if you have not cleaned your colon or your liver recently, do it now. Do whatever you can to get the toxins out of your body so your lymph glands will be able to handle the onslaught of this disease. Boost your immune system now. Use Immunetune and Immupro. Stock up on grapefruit, RC, oregano, thyme and Thieves. Make sure that you have NingXia red. Start drinking about 6 oz a day now. Diffuse Thieves in your house. Use the Thieves hand sanitizer frequently when you leave the house. One of my clients put a drop of Thieves in her children’s orange juice every morning before they went to school. She tells me that her children didn’t miss a day of school last year for illness!

Support your adrenal glands. Start cutting back on stress in your life. Make sure that you are supporting you glands with Trace Minerals, Essential Fatty Acids, and B vitamins. If you have a weak organ then take what nutrition you need to support it.

I truly believe that having a cleansed body and using the Essential Oils saved my life this time around. I believe I would have had a major stroke or another heart attack. I believe that if I hadn’t already had a cleansed body I would have been sicker then I was.

Wow, glad you are ok. This helps to know what will help to avoid getting the flu and if we get it what will help. Hope you feel completely better soon.

Wow - what a journey. I guess my big question is: Since we are using the oils everyday and the Young Living products - shouldn't our systems already be strong enough to handle some of this crap? You have battled so many illness's lately, why is your system getting sick to begin with? I have had trouble ever since the chicken pox in April - summer colds, worse allergies, and stuff. I'm usually really well except for the fibromyalgia crap and anxiety attacks that go with it. But I don't usually get colds and flu and sore throats but have had two cough, sore throat, glands swollen since April chicken pox. Any suggestions? Hope you are feeling better
